Possible DownTime for Mardox.com

One of our Providers, DreamHost.com, how informed us that there could be some downtime this Friday.

Kernel Upgrade March 12 – Midnight PST

We are upgrading kernels on the homie cluster at midnight this Friday.  This move will migrate us to the 2.6.32 kernel series which is the next long-term stable branch that is being supported by the stable team (replacing 2.6.27).  Each machine will be brought offline only for the amount of time required for a reboot so downtime will be minimal for individual sites.

thank you for your understanding.

The difference between KewlRank and Alexa

What is the difference between Kewlrank.com and Alexa.com?

I’ve been asked a couple of times what the difference is between KewlRank and Alexa. I’m going to expand this question in simple detail. I am not going to include the Big “G”. As it stands the Google PageRank system is not clear. any how the Google Page Rank system is only used in the Google search engine. So lets keep this explanation to Alexa and KewlRank.

Lets start off by explaining what these two names are for those of you who have no idea what web page ranks are. KewlRank and Alexa are systems designed to rank or index web pages in the search engines. There are two sides to these systems. One is the User side, (You). You need to get your rank up. the other side is the search engines and web directories. They need to obtain this ranking information to update their web listings. » Continue reading “The difference between KewlRank and Alexa”

Free Web Page Submissions. Changes! READ THIS!

Hello everyone.

In January of 2010, we looked into some nasty issues with free web page submissions. Please refer to these links for our previous postings on this topic.
Web Page Submissions issues.
Web Page Submissions issues. UPDATE!

lets start with what is going on. This refers to all search engines, web directories and link sites that accept free web page submissions.

On a daily basis, search engines and other sites, receive between 4,000 and 16,000 web page submissions per day. Some of the more popular search engine receive over 1.5 million submissions daily. Of these only 0.1% to 1% are human submitted. So this means that only 40 – 160 real live humans do the work by hand to submit their web sites. » Continue reading “Free Web Page Submissions. Changes! Web Page Submissions issues.

Hello all,

I have personally been in contact with a couple of users who find that they are not able to add their web sites to the Mardox search engine database.

I want to a sure everyone that we are working on the problem and that the issues are next on our list of things too correct.

This is not a glitch or bug so much as an abuse issue. There are people on the internet who feel that it’s their god given right to submit their web sites to the search engines hundreds of time per day. Mardox is not the only search engine facing this problem. All the search engines have to deal with this on a daily basis. » Continue reading “Web Page Submissions issues.”

Network wide downtime.

We are very sorry for the downtime on the Mardox network on December, 16 2009. This downtime effected Toyt.com, KewlRank.com nicesearch.com, opensubmit.net and most of the Mardox.com sub-domains. We have found the problem and it has been corrected.

We have notices that some of our clients are trying to access blog.mardox.com during downtime and are not able too. We are working on getting the Mardox Blog site moved to a separate set of hosting servers. We should have a solution by the end of next week.

If you are a client and want to be informed at all times with what is going on at Mardox.com, you should follow us on twitter. http://www.twitter.com/mardox1

We are sorry for this downtime and thank you for your understanding.

KewlRank.com – Major Update – We Fixed The Broken Image Glitch

We’ve had a problem with kewlrank.com in the past month. On and off we have seen broken images from the kewlrank, (On The Fly), image producer. Until now we were unable to localize the problem.

At first we thought that the image glitch was due to a security measure at the remove site. Some web site do not broadcast their hostname. Therefore not allowing us to process the information needed, properly.

We’ve since found that the problem was in our image processor. The problem is fixed. Now your KewlRank.com buttons and banners will work on any site. We want to thank all of you who took the time to notify us of this problem. With out you we would have never known that this problem existed.

Update on Kewlrank.com Web Stats

So it’s the 4th of December 2009 and I finally got the stats for this month so far. Kewlrank.com is still getting a solid flow of traffic and it keeps going up. Based on the past three days, we can see that December 1st 2009, there was 227,488 hits to kewlrank.com. December 2nd 2009, there was 185,357 hits and December 3rd 2009, there was 225,864 total hits.

This comes to a total of 645,919 hits in three days to the kewlrank.com. If we multiply these amounts by 10 we get 30 days and between 6,100,000 hits and 8,000,000 hits to the site.

This is great considering we have done nothing at all to promote the service. What is interesting is that the total amount of traffic has been doubling every month. October was 1.4 million, November was 2.8 Million and now we may see over 6 million hits.

New e-mail address security.

We are applying new security measures to our web sites. We are getting much stricter on e-mail address use. This refers to the input of false or non-valid e-mail address on our sites. We find that many people provide invalid e-mail address during the ordering process. This in turn may send an e-mail to someone else’s e-mail address. This activity could prove to be a major security risk on your part.

Example of web sites at Mardox with forms.

and the our central order form system.

Statistics update for KewlRank.com.

We’ve arrives at the end of November and the web stats are available. Some of you already know KewlRank is only 4 months old. I am going to break down the traffic to kewlrank.com for the past four months.

August 2009 , we received a grand total of 6211 visitors. This was funny because we did nothing at all to promote the site. This traffic was simply from our closest system Administrators,  Developers and beta testers.

September 2009, there was a total of 37,460 visits. By this time we had put kewlrank.com on the back burner and went on to some other projects that needed our attention. The kewlrank site continued and obviously there was traffic. » Continue reading “Statistics update for KewlRank.com.”
